Camie is an expert and a trained trainer in Thinking Maps, Engineering is Elementary, California Core Standards, Next Generation Science & Engineering Standards (NGSS) , FDA Food Science, and formative assessment insights. Camie has trained others in Kinesthetic learning, Next Generation Science Standards, 40 Developmental Assets for Adolescents (Search Institute), Formative assessment & The Digital Library, and how to use Engineering to make global connections. She is a presenter for the California Science Teacher's Association and is on the reviewing committee for the NGSS framework at the California Department of Education. Districts who have benefitted from Camie's trainings: Colton Unified School District, Fullerton Unified School District, and Garden Grove Unified School District.
Camie is currently working with a team to help provide supplemental resources about "argumentation in the science classroom." The purpose is to assist teachers in the transition to NGSS & Engineering standards. She has recently received a grant from The CTA's Institute for Teaching allowing her to use engineering to help her students make global connections. Finally, Camie stays current in pedagogy with her duo roles as a 5/6 grade elementary teacher and facilitator for University of Phoenix Science methods classes.
Camie has embraced the change that has come with California State Standards. She has prepared and cares deeply about allowing our youth to develop the critical thinking and communication skills they need to succeed.
